Papa Bear and I packed up for another adventure, making our way to De Borgia for a weekend filled with fresh mountain air, winding trails, and plenty of time in the SxS.
As always, the journey was just as exciting as the destination. The spot we found to camp for the weekend was The Black Diamond Ranch, and what a gem! The property was absolutely charming, with cozy cabins and a lodge that seemed like it had a million stories to tell from all the years it had been there. Everywhere we looked, there were little hints of history. It was the perfect place to call home for the weekend.

Friday, we set out on the SxS looking for a trail that would take us toward Thompson Falls.

Somewhere along the way, we worked up an appetite for a late lunch and a shake, so naturally, we asked Google where we should go. It sent us to Minnie’s Montana Café, and honestly, small-town restaurants never seem to disappoint. This stop was no exception. Good food always seems to taste even better after a day of exploring, especially when you’re dusty, tired, and hungry.

Saturday’s ride brought a little adventure of its own. Our original plan was to ride the 82.6-mile route Papa Bear had mapped out, but that didn’t quite work out when we discovered the trail was closed. So, we had to make a detour and come up with a Plan B.
Sometimes I think those unexpected changes end up being the best part of the adventure. Instead of following the route we had planned, we ended up taking a different, more scenic route that gave us some absolutely beautiful views.

The mountains, rivers, forests, and endless views reminded me once again why I love these trips so much. There is just something about being out there with the fresh mountain air, the SxS humming beneath us, and nowhere we really have to be.

One thing I’ve learned from all of our travels is that these small towns have some of the best food and the friendliest people. Every stop feels welcoming, and somehow those little unexpected places end up becoming part of the memories.
As the weekend comes to a close, my heart is full. Good rides, beautiful scenery, delicious food, and time spent making memories with Papa Bear.
It’s really hard to ask for much more than that.
These moments are what feed my soul. They remind me that sometimes you don’t need anything fancy or complicated to be happy. Sometimes all you need is a mountain road, a little mud, a full tank of gas, good food, and someone you love sitting beside you while you explore the world together.
